Mission & Service Promise
Our mission is to provide safe, efficient, and hassle-free transport throughout the region, with friendly local service and attention to detail. We follow all relevant safety regulations and take pride in offering a reliable, comfortable travel experience for individuals and groups alike.
When These Terms Apply
You agree to all relevant terms by engaging our services (e.g., making a booking, using our site, or boarding our shuttle). We reserve the right to update these terms from time to time; the latest version applies from the date it is published.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tapu Bay Shuttle is not liable (whether in contract, tort including negligence or otherwise) for:
- Loss of property: Any loss of, or damage to, articles or personal belongings in our custody or carried on board.
- Service delays or failures: Any failure, interruption, or delay in performance or service.
- Indirect or consequential loss: Any consequential, incidental, special, exemplary, or indirect loss arising from or in connection with the Tapu Bay Shuttle service, in any circumstances and for any reason whatsoever.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability where such exclusion is prohibited by New Zealand law.
Passenger Conduct & Safety
- Care for our property: You are responsible for any destruction, loss, or damage you cause.
- Minimum repair charge: NZD $150.00
- No smoking / drugs / alcohol: Do not smoke or consume drugs or alcohol in the vehicle at any time.
- Silly drunkenness will not be tolerated and you may be refused carriage.
- Food: Please don’t eat if there’s a reasonable risk of soiling the vehicle. A clean, low-mess snack (e.g., a nice Nelson apple) is likely okay.
- Minimum cleaning charge: NZD $150.00.
- Animals: Pets are generally not permitted, except for a guide dog or other certified assistance animal. Please notify us ahead of time so we can try to accommodate your needs.
- Respect for safety and staff: Follow driver instructions, wear seatbelts, and be ready at your pick-up time and location. We may refuse service if these expectations are not met or for any lawful reason whatsoever (e.g., safety concerns, intoxication, aggressive behaviour, or non-payment).
Our Expectations of You
- Follow driver instructions at all times and wear seatbelts where fitted.
- Stow luggage securely; hazardous or illegal items are not permitted.
- Be ready at the pick-up point at the booked time; no-shows may be treated as cancellations.
Cancellations & Delays
- Your cancellations: Please provide as much notice as possible. No-shows may be charged up to the full fare at our discretion.
- Service disruptions: We may alter, delay, or cancel services due to safety, weather, road closures, or operational reasons. We’ll take reasonable steps to notify you and offer alternatives where practical.
Policy Statement — Health & Safety
We recognise our moral and legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy environment for workers and customers. This commitment extends to ensuring our operations and activities do not place the local community or environment at risk of injury, illness, or damage.
Aims & Objectives
- Provide efficient, reliable, and safe transport.
- Provide a safe workplace for all employees and customers.
- Provide and operate modern, clean vehicles and operate them in a safe manner.
- Ensure all vehicles are kept fully compliant with regulatory bodies (e.g., CoF, licensing, required equipment).
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained and serviced in a timely manner as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Monitor and maintain driver licences and endorsements, and any additional requirements as per NZTA regulations.
Regulatory Compliance
We operate in line with New Zealand transport legislation and guidance from Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. Our vehicles and operations are maintained to required standards, including (as applicable):
- Valid Certificate of Fitness (CoF) for passenger service vehicles.
- Current vehicle licensing and registration.
- Driver licensing and endorsements appropriate to our services, monitored and maintained.
- Documented safety management practices and standard operating procedures.
Privacy
- Any personal information collected (name, phone, email, trip details, payments, and any communications such as emails or text messages) is used only for genuine business purposes.
- We use this information to manage bookings, deliver services, process payments, ensure safety and compliance, and communicate with you.
- We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and retain it only as long as needed for these purposes and to meet legal obligations.
- You may request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting us.
General
- Severability: If any part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remainder continues in force.
- Governing law: These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
